{"id":252,"date":"2013-12-18T10:47:01","date_gmt":"2013-12-17T22:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.asyouwish.co.nz\/blog\/?p=252"},"modified":"2016-01-13T09:34:11","modified_gmt":"2016-01-12T20:34:11","slug":"3-toolbox-favourites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/asyouwish.co.nz\/blog\/3-toolbox-favourites\/","title":{"rendered":"3 Toolbox Favourites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently I have been reminded that the &#8216;glitter and glam&#8217; of decorating is only as good as the tools you have on hand to assemble them.\u00a0 Over the last week I have been working on decorating a\u00a0foyer for Christmas &#8211; on a couple of occasions my assistant remarked that she absolutely loves my toolbox and that its the best toolbox ever.\u00a0\u00a0It&#8217;s nice of her to say so, but\u00a0any toolbox that has the tools and materials\u00a0that happen to be needed for the job at hand will\u00a0always appear to be the &#8220;best ever&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0 Having said that it is often one of the things people forget about when decorating for an event, so I thought I would open my toolbox and share a few of my favourite items\u00a0with you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-254 aligncenter\" title=\"First 3 Toolbox Items\" src=\"http:\/\/www.asyouwish.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Toolbox-1-1024x695.png\" alt=\"First 3 Toolbox Items\" width=\"770\" height=\"522\" \/><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #888888; text-decoration: underline;\">1.\u00a0 Scissors<\/span><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>This may seem a little obvious, but they are absolutely essential, and there are a few things you should consider.\u00a0 Firstly if you have a sizeable group of volunteers helping with set up it will be worthwhile having 2- 3 pairs.\u00a0 Event set ups are usually done\u00a0under time constraints and the last thing you want to be doing is wasting time looking for a pair of scissors.\u00a0 Secondly, you need to consider what you are going to cut and whether or not the scissors you have will actually do the job.\u00a0 Some scissors just can&#8217;t handle cutting fabrics, so it pays to check.\u00a0 Also, while they aren&#8217;t strictly scissors I have a pair of\u00a0wire cutters in my toolbox too.\u00a0 I find they are useful for when scissors just aren&#8217;t strong enough for the job.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #888888; text-decoration: underline;\">2. Double Sided Tape<\/span><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>This is another essential. It is my firm belief that in most decorating circumstances tape should not be seen &#8211; therefore double sided tape is perfect.\u00a0 It can be used just about anywhere and for anything.\u00a0 Just be aware that not all double sided tapes are created equal.\u00a0 Some of the cheaper varieties turn into clumpy messes when you try and remove them, which is why I choose\u00a0to use\u00a0the Sellotape brand which you can buy in most supermarkets and stationery stores.\u00a0 The other brand I also like it Impact, which is available from <a title=\"Warehouse Stationery\" href=\"http:\/\/www.warehousestationery.co.nz\/is-bin\/INTERSHOP.enfinity\/WFS\/WSL-B2C-Site\/en_NZ\/-\/NZD\/?&amp;gclid=CPrn-rG_ubsCFQhgpQodbTAA7w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Warehouse Stationery<\/a>.\u00a0 The backing paper on this brand seems to be thicker than others, which makes it easier to peel off.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #888888; text-decoration: underline;\">3.
