Day 12<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<p>Yes, this is our 12th day of Christmas ideas &#8211; and I feel we&#8217;ve saved the best until last.\u00a0 Last Christmas I\u00a0got talking to\u00a0a lovely lady who was struggling with how to set her outdoor table, with an umbrella, for Christmas dinner.\u00a0 While we came up with a few ideas at the time, I continued to think about it throughout the year &#8211; which has lead me to today&#8217;s idea.<\/p>\n<p>Many times I have gone to set a table that has an umbrella and\u00a0ended up getting frustrated because the\u00a0pole just got in the way.\u00a0 So the whole point with this table setting was to create a purpose built centrepiece that would embrace the umbrella pole.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-734 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.asyouwish.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Table-Setting-Page-003-791x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Table Setting - Page 003\" width=\"770\" height=\"996\" \/>I had seen in my local Spotlight store that they had floral foam rings that were in a plastic\u00a0ring container &#8211; I believe they made for wreaths but I figured why not just arrange the flowers to look more like a centrepiece.\u00a0\u00a0 I went to see the lovely ladies at <a title=\"Bethany Gardens\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bethanygardensflowers.co.nz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bethany Gardens Florists <\/a>and together we put together this beautiful White &amp; Gold arrangement.\u00a0 The next\u00a0key element\u00a0to this table design was the table runner.\u00a0 I came across this beautiful\u00a0Christmas ribbon and instantly fell\u00a0in love with it.\u00a0 I wanted it to be a feature on the table,\u00a0so I set about weaving it together to make the runner.\u00a0 When making a table runner like this the key\u00a0is to make sure that you have an odd number of ribbon lengths running in each direction &#8211; this means you have a perfect centre square that you can cut and fold back to make a very tidy umbrella hole.\u00a0 Once all the weaving had been done I stitched around the edge in a gold metallic thread to hold it all together.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-733 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.asyouwish.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Table-Setting-Page-002-791x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Table Setting - Page 002\" width=\"770\" height=\"996\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With those two key elements in place I set about adding the final details.\u00a0\u00a0The gold charger plates and white linen napkins tied in nicely which the centrepiece and table runner.\u00a0 These were hired from <a title=\"Covers Decoration Hire\" href=\"http:\/\/www.covers.co.nz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Covers Decoration Hire<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-732 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.asyouwish.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Table-Setting-Page-001-791x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Table Setting - Page 001\" width=\"770\" height=\"996\" \/>Lastly I added the place cards holders which I found at <a title=\"The Warehouse\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thewarehouse.co.nz\/red;sid=ELnLZflxeITDZa0JQVvUb-jdNg0fk3myz_s=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Warehouse <\/a>and the gold sugar rimmed wine glasses.\u00a0 Overall I think all the elements came together nicely creating a rustic, yet elegant Christmas Table setting.\u00a0 I hope this inspires you for your Christmas table.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-663 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.asyouwish.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Sign-off-300x118.png\" alt=\"Sign off\" width=\"300\" height=\"118\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>12 Days of Christmas Ideas 2014 &#8211;
